Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certificate program Sanford Brown College serves to enhance the skills of individuals currently certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography. It is designed as an enhancement program for graduates of an Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Sciences degree who possess a current AART (RT) credential. This certificate program utilizes didactic and laboratory courses, in addition to clinical internships to provide each student with the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills required in the performance of acceptable magnetic resonance imaging examinations. This program prepares the student for additional opportunities in Radiography through advancement opportunities in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Upon completion of the program, the student should have the basic skills and knowledge required for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist.
The Radiography program at SBC is programmatically accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Therefore, graduates of the program are eligible for and encouraged to apply for certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This credential is a nationally recognized voluntary certification that may affect employment opportunities and/or income potential. Only graduates of JRCERT accredited radiography programs meet the education requirements to apply to ARRT for certification. However, ARRT certification requirements are not controlled by SBC and are subject to change by ARRT without notice. Therefore, SBC cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take this certification exam, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.
